Daniela Pes performed live at Zo Centro Culture Contemporanee in Catania on January 4, 2024, as part of Partiture — Zo's series dedicated to the most innovative and experimental languages in music, spanning electronic, neoclassical and contemporary sound, founded by Sergio Zinna, artistic director of the Catania cultural centre.
The performance reflected the spirit of Partiture in full: the voice and music of the Sardinian singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist defy classification. Pes sings in a language that does not yet exist — a blend of Gallurese, Italian and invented words — and composes music that mixes archaic echoes with electronica, where words become pure sound rather than vehicles of meaning.
Her debut album Spira, produced by Sardinian songwriter Iosonouncane, weaves elegant and sometimes dark electronics with ambient passages of cosmic breath — the archaic, the contemporary and the futurible intertwined. The evening opened with a live set by Milanese artist Gaia Banfi.
